My grandad called this style of diner a "greasy spoon," and this was one of his favorites. It's sure to be one of mine as well. The atmosphere is very friendly and casual, where regulars are known by name. My partner and I had been planning on getting breakfast fare, but the special of the day was a cod sandwich that caught both of our eyes so we tried it and it was out of this world. Definitely the best I've had in years, possibly the best I've ever had. I don't know what they put in their homemade tartar sauce but I could have drunk it straight.This place is no frills, just good food, friendly faces, and local flare, which makes it one of a dying breed of down home diners. If that's your thing, this place is can't-miss.

Great local diner! Just a heads up, that's it a smaller place so get there early for a table. I ordered some corned beef hash and my friend got some pancakes. So happy that we decided to come for breakfast!

If you go on a weekend morning, be prepared to wait. And you should. We go to Allen's every other weekend, food has always been great. Service even though they are usually packed, has never left us without a full cup of coffee. If you're visiting or a local that has never been in it's worth the trip for a good, homestyle breakfast. Prices are reasonable for the portions you receive.

The fruit was freshly cut, the cranberry French toast was PERFECT, and my boyfriend's BBQ Chicken quesadilla was reportedly amazing as well. Our server even brewed fresh coffee for me! Wonderful, clean, and adorable.

Delicious. Super- friendly staff. We are from out of town, But have decided to visit again tomorrow. Great.

The waitress was really nice! I ordered the cranberry French toast. My aunt thought it was amazing. I wasn’t a big fan of the walnuts.

The food was mediocre. We ordered pancakes, french toast, an egg breakfast sandwich and eggs and bacon. The only one that stood out as better than average was the French toast. Hard to comment on the service as one of the waitresses quit right there when we were waiting for food and stormed out with some harsh words. To that point, it was good though. Summarizing, it was not a bad place if you need a bite to eat for a decent price, but I would guess there are better tasting places around.

Always friendly service, good breakfast options, and lots of coffee refills. I can't think of a time where I left feeling disappointed. Other than disappointment in not sticking to my diet... ;-)

By far the best restaurant in the entire St. Louis metro area. All the food is made from scratch and made to order. The staff and owners make this place special too. Love how they interact with our daughter; they know her better than they know me! This place has become nearly a weekly visit on the weekends. No doubt a hidden gem in the area.

Classic diner. Rare gem in a town awash in chain joints. Great food, friendly service and atmosphere, fair prices. For decor, the walls are covered with pics of happy customers. Everyone is just plain folks at Allin's. For out-of-towners: end-cap of a little strip mall on Kingshighway, a half-block north of the Jefferson Street intersection at Lindenwood University. Good coffee!

Like the food and the atmosphere. Its a real nice place but the prices compared to what you get for breakfast are too high.

First time there. Everything was great and fast. Our waitress was wonderful. Made my daughter feel so important when she (who is 7) went up to pay for us, and let my daughter keep her pink pen. Everything was great, but the little things made my daughter's day. Little acts of kindness can mean a lot to the other. Thank you for our lunch.

Service was very attentive and friendly! I judge a breakfast place by their hashbrowns, and these were perfect (greasy like diner food should be.) I wouldn't recommend the gravy and biscuits, they lacked flavor.

Kind of like Cheers but they serve food. Great neighborhood greasy spoon. Breakfast is yummy. Lunch is just OK for the price. My daughter just LOVES their pancakes.

Dave the owner greeting us personally. He was pleased that I ordered ALL of the soups. (You really need a soup sampler plate.) The Clam Chowder & Minnesota Chicken & Wild rice soup were the winners yesterday. Morgan our server was very friendly & helpful.
